PC Technician, Management Information Center

Secretary I, Distance Education

Primary Function:

To provide comprehensive support to distance education students, instructors and academic advisors, managing telephone traffic, grade and withdrawal reporting for courses, and other activities as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the telephone response system in the Distance Education Advising Center

Sports Information Director

Vincennes University is accepting applications for Sport Information Director. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenured, support staff position with benefits.

The Sports Information Director is responsible for the continual broadening of coverage of Vincennes University Athletics. The director promotes VU’s strong nationwide image among NJCAA members, the news media, and fan bases.

The Sports Information Director is responsible for cultivating working relationships with local, regional, and national media; coordinating, producing, and distributing news and feature stories using the most appropriate technology; overseeing athletics online content including govutrailblazers.com and selected social media; assisting in the creation of the Trailblazer experience at sporting events in the PE Complex with BlazerVision; and assisting with the submission of statistical and compliance-related information.

Duties:

Specific duties of the Sports Information Director include but are not limited to the following:

• Serve as a liaison between the university and VU athletic department with local, regional or national media

• Coordinate efforts with university relations, marketing services, admissions and university departments and offices to create a cohesive VU message

• Meet with the athletic director on a regular basis to review upcoming coverage and story ideas

• Cover athletic events in person and monitor VU teams and athletes through electronic means to create written accounts with statistics to be distributed to the media and posted on the www.govutrailblazers.com web site and VU Athletics Facebook/Twitter pages

• Produce news releases to prompt interest in VU sports, announce athlete signings and hiring of new Trailblazer coaches and other staff

• Collect information from players to provide bios to media outlets and for using in other University media

• Maintain roster and statistical submissions to the NJCAA

• Work with students hired by VU Athletics to run digital stat programs

• Respond to media and NJCAA inquiries or requests for program information and imagery

• Facilitate team and individual photo shoots, as well as photography during athletic events

• Guide BlazerVision graphics and other content, as well as having the crew supervisor as a direct report

• Produce media guides

• Seek out the opportunity for feature articles

• Coordinate projects with multiple offices and agencies to improve both campus and community interest/attendance

• Direct athletic content for digital outdoor boards

Requirements:

A minimum of an Associate Degree is required.

A candidate must possess exceptional written and verbal skills with experience in writing news/sports releases for multiple platforms. A high level of competency with Photoshop, MS Office and web publishing programs are needed as well as active use of social media including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Applicants should be self-driven and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a dynamic team. This position requires strong problem solving skills and the ability to function under the pressure of deadlines and flexing schedules. It also includes the ability to perform as a spokesperson for both the University and athletic programs with broadcast and other forms of media.

Blazer Vision/News Producer

Primary Function:

A full-time support staff position divided between the offices of External Relations and WVUT-TV. Flexible schedule adjusted to match event needs with a 3:00pm-11:30pm schedule on non-event days.

Responsibilities:

BlazerVision

Position requires a self-directed individual who possesses a foundation in media, as well as strong organizational and communication skills. General knowledge of athletics and/or experience with digital graphics preferred. Responsibilities include crew management, media and equipment management, and the overall operations of the components required for BlazerVision and online components of PE Complex event coverage, both athletic and non-athletic.

• Ensure proper set up, operation, maintenance, and storage of BlazerVision media and equipment. The crew supervisor will follow event scripts as agreed upon by the sponsoring bodies

• Follow and uphold the Standard Operating Procedures guide for BlazerVision and online coverage (not originating through WVUT broadcasts)

• Create and maintain a graphics library throughout the year for digital signage

• Provide highlight materials for use by University departments

• Support event webcasts (not originating through WVUT broadcasts)

• Interface with Sports Information Director for team information, photography, statistics, guest relations, and crews for athletic events

• Interfaces with designated members of ER for non-athletic events

• Evaluate operations and make recommendations for changes as needed

• Provide training opportunities

• Recruit student crew members and complete the required documentation.

During non-event production times, the position serves as a News Producer for WVUT-TV.

News Producer

Serves as a news and sports content producer/reporter for WVUT-TV & WVUB-FM. Position requires self-driven person with skills to work in a multimedia newsroom, utilizing the most recent technology and best social media practices. Works directly with the News Director in creating content for our stations, as well as the University. Other duties as assigned by the News Director and the General Manager.

WVUB Production Manager

The Production Manager works closely with the General Manager and the Program Director to create the overall sound and image of the station across all platforms.

• Oversee the production and insertion of all advertising campaigns including local, regional, national and barter ads.

• Produce and host an on-air program as designated by the General Manager.

• Create and execute best practices for the Production Department.

• Work with Director of Underwriting and Traffic department to ensure underwriting announcements air as scheduled and meet underwriting guidelines.

• Write and produce promotional and underwriting on-air copy.

• Write and produce content for station website and social media platforms.

• Participate in regular meetings with the General Manager along with Director of Underwriting, Promotions Director and other staff as needed.

• Work with students, faculty, and media partners as directed.

• Maintain a positive attitude to ensure great relations with our staff, listeners and clients.

• Participate in remote broadcasts and other station promotions and events.

• Occasional nights and weekends required.

• Other station tasks as needed as assigned by the General Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates Degree in Broadcasting/Media, or related field.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations.

• Ability to use common broadcast equipment.

• Must hold a valid driver’s license.

Part-Time Grounds Maintenance

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Maintenance Associate Part Time Grounds Maintenance employee assists the grounds crew as needed with mowing, trash routes, landscaping, snow removal, irrigation and any other duties as assigned by the Grounds Supervisor or Director of the Physical Plant

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or G.E.D., Valid Driver’s License, landscaping experience or mechanical background a plus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Communications – Ability to follow both verbal and written instruction

• Attitude – Must be a team player and willing to assist with other areas as deemed necessary by the Director of the Physical Plant

Responsibilities:

• Perform grounds maintenance activities; lawn mowing, trimming, irrigation, exterior plantings, walks and brick walkways, snow removal and de-icing, etc. including operation and maintenance of grounds equipment, forklift, dump truck, etc.

• Parking and traffic control structure maintenance; barricades, street drains, pavement maintenance, parking bumpers, etc.

• Acquisition and maintenance of appropriate Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for operation of Trash Compactor truck; picking up refuse and delivery to landfill. Responsible for handling and storage of Bio-hazardous Waste.

• Assist with event set-ups as needed

• Other duties as assigned by the Physical Plant Director

Position Requirements:

• One year experience in grounds maintenance work; or equivalent combinations of applicable experience.

• Interpret and work rough sketches, drawings and blue prints

• Understand and follow all safety procedures and use of safety equipment

• Maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers, faculty & staff, students and the general public; will be required to work as a member if other trade crews on large projects.

• Operate vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license. Preferred CDL to operate trash compactor which may be acquired within the first year’s employment

• May work under emergency and difficult situations.

• Experience and comfortable working in heights with agility and balance, on scaffolding, ladders, and lifts.

• Able to respond to emergency call-ins and may be required to work weekends/holidays as needed on snow removal, storm damage, special activities, etc.

• Skilled in the operation and use of tools, chemicals, materials, and equipment in the grounds maintenance area with a good mechanical background.

• Knowledge of lawn, grounds, and construction equipment operation and maintenance; i.e. Bobcat, forklift, etc.

• May be required to perform weekend/holiday building checks and respond to pager calls.

Physical Demands:

• Standing, bending, climbing, carrying, reaching, handling, and use of fingers 50% or more of the work day. Combination of heavy truck operation and manual labor activities.

• Regular attendance is required for this position. Actual schedule contingent upon the needs of the department and Vincennes University.

• Works both indoors and outdoors, occasionally under inclement weather conditions.

• Frequently lifting 50-100 pounds or over.

• Interpret, apply, and abide by the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and parental confidentiality issues.

Part-Time USCG Coordinator (Virginia)

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Part-Time Coordinator USCG. This is a part-time staff position at US Coast Guard Cutter Afloat Program in Virginia.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Coordinate academic outreach and provide advising services for Vincennes University at the United States Coast Guard Cutter Afloat Program, Virginia

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversees the counseling and advising of students concerning their academic program and preparing their evaluation package.

• Determine the appropriate mode of instruction: on-site classes, distance learning courses, or college level testing, in accordance with the needs of the student and availability of faculty and delivery system.

• Resolves student academic problems and issues within the limits of University procedures.

• Informs students (by phone, mail, e-mail or in person) about their educational options and their academic status with Vincennes University.

• Identifies and recruits qualified adjunct faculty and submits the documentation necessary for hiring.

• Orients new faculty with procedures and standards of the University.

• Supervise faculty compliance with academic schedules and contact hour requirements.

• Assure that faculty teaching is evaluated through student evaluations, faculty peer counseling, and other academically acceptable methods in cooperation with the Vincennes campus.

• Assure that faculty is supplied with appropriate course plans, textbooks, and other instructional resources to assist them in the conduct of their courses.

• Coordinate Adjunct Faculty travel and required security identification for both CONUS and OCONUS travel.

• Schedule periodic faculty development workshops.

• Ensure that appropriate annual course schedules are developed consistent with student needs, faculty availability and economic necessity.

• Ensure timely availability of textbooks and other instructional resources appropriate to scheduled courses.

• Monitor the textbook inventory, identifying needs for upgrading course materials.

• Work with US Coast Guard personnel to schedule coursework aboard deployed Cutters.

• Ensure the timely completion and submission of registration forms, evaluation packages, grade reports, student account collections, class roster reconciliation, and any checklists, reports for the monitoring of these activities.

• Ensure the timely and accurate certification of tuition assistance, veterans educational benefits, and/or financial aid, including the submission of any supporting documentation to the proper authority.

• Will not allow any student with prior term Account Receivable balance to register for another course until full payment is received.

• Maintain student academic files and records in accordance with University procedures.

• Maintain the reconciliation and follow-up of student accounts receivable to include any student payments, tuition assistance, payment plans, VA benefits and financial aid payments.

• Adheres to time schedules in the submission of reports and administrative correspondence.

• Responsible for coordinating with various Military Educational/College Offices, the applicable state approving agencies, and the veteran’s administrative offices on matters affecting the operation of the site and responsibilities of the students.

• Works on continuous program effectiveness and improvement of VU’s service to students and the military.

• Plans, conducts and carries out the marketing and public relations function for additional Coast Guard Cutter Commands.

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for an Evaluator in the Military Education Program. This is a part-time, non-exempt staff position.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provide academic and operational support to the Military Education Program office on the Vincennes campus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Transcribe college transfer credit awarded for MEP students.

• Transcribe awarded military credit for MEP students based on the American Council on Education’s recommendations.

• Assist in maintaining records for Veterans Support Services.

• Assist with Department of Veterans Affairs education benefits processes, including but not limited to preparation of enrollment certifications and tracking of grades and academic progress.

• Assist with the processing of Petitions to Graduate.

• Communicate with MEP sites/military installations and students concerning issues related to military experience evaluations and transfer credit.

• Possess a clear knowledge of University courses, programs, and academic standards and requirements as they apply to the military student.

• Ability to travel as necessary to participate in ongoing site specific training and conferences.

• Help to maintain a highly efficient and organized office environment, to include but not limited to: providing accurate information on phone, via email, and in person to the public; maintaining confidentiality in the work environment; helping to create and maintain files and systems of organization both electronically and via hard copy; basic computing; meeting deadlines associated with the academic calendar and University policies.

• Other duties as assigned by the IN MEP Director.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor Degree preferred; Associate’s Degree required.

• Proficient in Windows 7 environment, Internet applications, Microsoft Office, and student information systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Academic Tutor position is designed to provide one on one or small group support for early college students at ACCU. The tutor will work closely with teachers to monitor academic progress of students who are struggling with courses in our early college setting.

Initial responsibilities of the academic tutor would include:

• Provide academic tutoring in English for students

• Customize and craft effective plans that address student weaknesses and strengths

• Assist, evaluate, develop and integrate the students in learning

• Motivate students and provide them with confidence to feel successful

• Foster meaningful relationships with students and faculty

• Develop study skills specifically tailored to the students' needs

• Teach referred students how to learn by providing students with study skills and study habits
